It’s Nice to Meet You!

My name is Signý, a passionate photographer, a viking explorer who made her way Down Under, I’m originally from Iceland, but my home base is now New Zealand. I love traveling, learning about and connecting with people all over the globe. But wherever I am in the world, there is nothing more rewarding than coming home to my little girl running at me full-tilt yelling, “Mama, mama, mama!”

I’ve worked on film sets, as a graphic designer, in visual effects and as a talent scout. The job I love most, though, is making pictures with cameras. My photography has been published in books and magazines, and I’ve won a few awards along the way. But the most rewarding thing for me is seeing a big, beautiful print in a classy frame, and the smile on my client’s face as they take it away.

Making Pictures

Whether it’s people or places, color or black & white, sweeping vistas or tiny detail shots - I want to create bold images with character and honesty. I like clean, graphic compositions, and I’m thinking about the final image throughout the whole Process. [LINK] But I’ll never sacrifice my connection with the subject to try manufacture the perfect pose or angle.

A Process that Won’t Beat You Up

I pride myself in delivering images that leap out of the frame, but I like to keep things fun and relaxed while we tick through the tasks. I find we make the best pictures when everybody is comfortable and at ease, especially when we’re shooting people. I love working with people who don’t consider themselves “models,” helping them feel and look their very best, and then using the camera to capture that moment indelibly in an image that will last generations.
